A single source precursor, tantalum tin acetylacetonate was prepared and characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Tantalum tin oxide thin film was deposited on ITO coated glass substrate through spin coating of the single source precursor solution and annealed at a temperature of 420 o C.The deposited film was characterized using Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), optical absorption spectroscopy, and four point probe technique. RBS analysis showed that the film have a stoichiometry of Ta 0.2 Sn 0.8 O 2 and thickness of 8.225 nm. SEM micrograph of the film revealed closely packed grains which are well distributed over the entire substrate while the XRD indicated strong reflections from planes that correspond to both tetragonal rutile SnO 2 and Ta 2 O 5 structures. The absorption behavior of the deposited thin film was relatively stable under different temperature with direct optical band gap between 3.44 and 3.54 eV. The resistivity was found to be of the order of 10-4 Ω-cm.

In this research, we describe the effect of extended oxidation on the structural and optical properties of Graphene Oxide synthesized via the Simplified Hummers Method. The synthesis was carried out using two routes. The first route involved stirring the one pot mixture continuously for three days at ambient temperature while the second route involved stirring another one pot mixture for six days also at ambient temperature. The FTIR spectra showed introduction of oxygen functionalities in both GO with a higher degree of oxidation in the 6-day synthesized GO while the EDX confirmed the presence of carbon and oxygen in the GOs. The Raman Spectra showed that the 3-day synthesized GO typifies a more crystalline material compared to the 6-day synthesized GO. However, the Raman spectra of the 3-day synthesized GO showed a slightly higher ID/IG ratio while the 6-day synthesized GO showed a greater disruption of the sp2 domains. The extended period of stirring and oxidation increased the band gap of the 6-day synthesized GO to 3.0 eV unlike the 3-day synthesized GO where 2.5 eV was observed.

Lead sulphide (PbS) and zinc- doped lead sulphide (Zn-PbS) thin films were prepared by chemical spray pyrolysis on soda lime glass substrates at a temperature of 250 °C. Precursors were prepared from chemical reagents including zinc acetate, lead acetate and thiourea. The deposited films thicknesses and elemental composition were studied by Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS); the percentages of Pb and S were estimated as 40.58 % and 59.42 %, respectively, while for the Zn-doped sample, the percentages of Zn, Pb and S were respectively 4.84 %, 44.57 % and 50.59 %. Morphological studies revealed that the films were continuous and the particles were uniformly distributed across the substrate surface. A prepared single solid source precursor was used for the deposition of copper doped oxy-sulphide thin films on glass substrate by MOCVD technique. This was achieved by the pyrolysis of the prepared precursors at 420°C with a flow rate of 2.5 dm 3 /min for 2 hours. The deposited films were characterized using Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), UV-visible spectrophotometry and four point probe method. RBS analysis showed that the expected elements are present while the thickness was estimated to be 889 nm. The SEM images of the deposited film showed a fine structure with densely packed grains of uniform grain size of about 80 nm, well distributed throughout the entire substrate which is polycrystalline in nature. The film revealed an average transmittance of 80% in the visible region with a direct bandgap of 2.41 eV. The absorbance of the film was observed to be low in the visible and near-infrared regions, and high in UV region. The values of 1. 17 × 10 Ω/□ and 10.40 Ω were obtained as the sheet resistance and resistivity of the film respectively. The deposited quaternary thin film is found to be a promising candidate as window layer and absorber layer for cost effective photovoltaics.

Background Annotation and Image Markup on ClearCanvas Enriched Stroke–phenotyping Software (ACCESS) is a novel stand-alone computer software application that allows the creation of simple standardized annotations for reporting brain images of all stroke types. We developed the ACCESS application and determined its inter-rater and intra-rater reliability in the Stroke Investigative Research and Educational Network (SIREN) study to assess its suitability for multicenter studies. Methods One hundred randomly selected stroke imaging reports from 5 SIREN sites were re-evaluated by 4 trained independent raters to determine the inter-rater reliability of the ACCESS (version 12.0) software for stroke phenotyping. To determine intra-rater reliability, 6 raters reviewed the same cases previously reported by them after a month of interval. Ischemic stroke was classified using the Oxfordshire Community Stroke Project (OCSP), Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST), and Atherosclerosis, Small-vessel disease, Cardiac source, Other cause (ASCO) protocols, while hemorrhagic stroke was classified using the Structural lesion, Medication, Amyloid angiopathy, Systemic disease, Hypertensive angiopathy and Undetermined (SMASH-U) protocol in ACCESS. Agreement among raters was measured with Cohen's kappa statistics. Results For primary stroke type, inter-rater agreement was.98 (95% confidence interval [CI],.94-1.00), while intra-rater agreement was 1.00 (95% CI, 1.00). For OCSP subtypes, inter-rater agreement was.97 (95% CI,.92-1.00) for the partial anterior circulation infarcts,.92 (95% CI,.76-1.00) for the total anterior circulation infarcts, and excellent for both lacunar infarcts and posterior circulation infarcts. Intra-rater agreement was.97 (.90-1.00), while inter-rater agreement was.93 (95% CI,.84-1.00) for TOAST subtypes. Inter-rater agreement ranged between.78 (cardioembolic) and.91 (large artery atherosclerotic) for ASCO subtypes and was.80 (95% CI,.56-1.00) for SMASH-U subtypes. Conclusion The ACCESS application facilitates a concordant and reproducible classification of stroke subtypes by multiple investigators, making it suitable for clinical use and multicenter research.
