Olawale R. Olaopa, a Nigerian was formerly a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, North West University, Mafikeng, South Africa.

He earned a BSc in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) and an MSc in Political Science from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. He holds a Doctoral degree in Public Policy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa.

His research fields include Public Policy, Research Methods, Gender Issues, Public Administration & Finance, Indigenous Knowledge, Democratic Governance and Sustainable Development.

He has, to his credit, many academic distinctions, awards, grants, fellowship and honours including Center for Research Documentation (CRD) award, 2004; CODESRIA, 2005; UNFPA travel grants, 2007; Free tuition to study for Doctoral degree at UKZN, 2009; Educational Research Network for West and Central Africa (ERNWACA) Research Grants Programme, 2011; and The NEPAD ASTII on Research and Innovation for Economic development in Africa: The Role of STI Indicators Research Grants, 2012. He was a member of the Nigeria‚Äôs National Policy on Science and Technology review team in 2010.
