Funso ADESOLA is a Ph. D. holder and former Head, Department of International Relations, Obafemi Awolowo University {OAU}, Ile-Ife, Osun State. Nigeria. He started as an Assistant Lecturer - a member of faculty of the Department International Relations and has risen through the ranks to his present position of Professor. He was an Exchange Scholar (on SUSI Programme), sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, United States Department of State; and hosted by University of Florida, Gainesville. USA. He was also a Laureate of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa {CODESRIA} Dakar, Senegal; Two titles “International Relations: An Introductory Text” and “National Security in Nigeria’s Relations with its Neighbours” are his. He has just co-edited another titled “State, Governance and Security in Africa: A Festchrift in Honour of Professor Bamitale Idowu Omole”. His research interests on security studies, geopolitics, international relations of Africa and Nigeria's politics and international relations – are areas where he has published widely in reputable local and international journals. His research endeavours have made him benefit from the facilities/grants of CODESRIA, Dakar, Senegal, the French Institute for Research in Africa {IFRA} Ibadan, Nigeria and Carnegie Travel Fellowship – awarded by the Directorate of Linkages and Sponsored Research, OAU, Ile-Ife.
